Fishing for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Bonita, and False Albacore

This kind of sport fishing takes place around Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Chatham, and all around Nantucket Sound and Monomoy Island .We start to fish for Striped Bass and Bluefish during Memorial Day weekend and we usually start to fish for Bonita and False Albacore shortly after July 4th. We offer several different kinds of charter fishing trips throughout the Cape Cod fishing season.

At Merlin Sportfishing we use many different fishing methods. Some of these methods are trolling and jigging or plugging with spinning class lures. My personal favorite is live baiting or dead bait while drifting with ultra light tackle while fishing sand eels on circle hooks.

One of the great things about fishing for all these species is any one can do it and it is a great way for families to introduce their children to fishing during a Cape Cod vacation. Last year we had our youngest angler to date land a nice 42 inch, 36 pound Striped Bass with just a little reeling help from her mom. This fish was a beauty in anyone’s book, especially the 4 year old that caught it!
